Jacky Terrasson quartet featuring Malia
Opening concert, discovery : Lifescape
A vocal masculine revelation.
Lifescape were finalists in the ‘Tremplin Jeunes Talents 2007’ (Young Talents Competition 2007) contest and snagged the Jury’s special prize in the Sunside Trophies, with a special mention for the singer Olivier Régin for the bravery he showed, a quality much in evidence among the four musicians of the quartet here who all have very diverse backgrounds ranging from classical to contemporary music. In their compositions, jazz is tinged with the sound of pop, rock, and EST-style electro, while the singer is firmly rooted in the grand American singer tradition much like Kurt Elling, together with all the virtuoso performance of a scat singer.

It is a challenge he takes up every year with great panache, boldness and inventiveness: return every year with an artistic, often new project, concocted during weeks by his manager and the festival. Inaugurating new places, inviting remarkable artists, Jacky Terrasson marked with unforgettable concerts the story of JAZZ à SAINT-GERMAIN-DES-PRÉS. This year, he is back in an incredible quartet with jazz singer Malia as a very special guest.
