What happens when two virtuosos pair up
These two pianists and composers par excellence have known each other since childhood, and both attended the Paris Conservatory. Both of them tucked themselves away for two decades, and while Jean-François Zygel went down the more classical music road, Antoine Hervé took up a more jazz-orientated sound. They came together in 2007 for a radio show where they did some impro together for the first time, and thus was this extraordinary partnership born.
Jean-François Zygel is known for his iconic "Leçons de musique" (lessons in music) and is a rare being, a classical musician who also knows how to improvise. Antoine Hervé is widely known as one of the most astounding French jazz musicians of his generation. When these two musical geniuses came together a cross-fertilisation of ideas took place, and much fun was had during a duel between jazz and classical music! This resulted in a thrilling and highly singular sound, an incredible symbiosis that gave birth to a brand new kind of music. Jean-François Zygel and Antoine Hervé have brought us to the heart of a sumptuous location for an evening of unique, unforgettable improvisation and virtuoso performance to celebrate the release of their new second album!
New release "Double messieurs" - April 5th 2001 on Naïve classique.
