The Museum of the French Tennis Federation continues once again its Jazz at Roland Garros for the second consecutive year. Springtime, Paris, Jazz and tennis... All excellent reasons that will draw fans of amateur jazz to a concert at St. Germain des Pres following a match. The line up for this program includes a concert by Kurt Elling, with Cécilia Bertolini performing beforehand.
A singer-songwriter and a well-deserved highlight of the festival, Cécilia Bertolini has a ferocious need for music. Her sublime voice is seducing and her talent for writing has not gone without notice, first for her stage debut at the festival's "Jazz au féminin", and recently by her producer, Bonsaï Music. It is with great pleasure that the festival once again invites her for the release of her debut album "Gotta do it," after her intense and beautiful work with her five musicians, under the musical direction of pianist Armel Dupas. This new female vocalist delivers jazz tinged with pop and folk, revealing of her sensitivity and boundless energy. Not to be missed!
A performance in Paris by Kurt Elling, considered the best jazz singer of his generation, is always an event. This crooner from Chicago has released seven albums on the prestigious Blue Note label and has received numerous awards, including a Grammy for his previous album "Nightmoves". On his latest album "The Gate", he takes on sublime themes in pop, jazz, soul and funk. From Herbie Hancock to Stevie Wonder, via the Beatles and King Crimson, Kurt Elling excels in the art of performance and always provides us so many divine moments in the manner of his master Mark Murphy. An evening awash in excellence and beauty.
